Yosemite Cemetary

The cemetery is divided into two parts. The first part is the Indian cemetary where certain Yosemite Indians have been buried. It is a segregated cemetary, the Indians in one little cluster, while the Whites are buried in a more scattered and broad manner. Here is a shot of the "Indian" portion of the grounds:

Now, for the non-Indians buried here. This is a picture of an unknown youth, marked on his tombstone as simply "a boy."

James Mason Hutchings, a famous pioneer and author, is buried here.

Also buried here is Galen Clark, friend of John Muir, and author of "Indians of the Yosemite," a work about the customs, legends, and daily habits of the Yosemite Indians.
