Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake is a beautiful place that attracts a lot of swimmers. After we got done hiking up and down Vernal Falls we came here via tram. And along the way I saw another good creek picture to take, so here it is:

Same stream, different angle:

And as for Mirror Lake itself:

There was this one dog that just howled and howled no matter what anybody was doing. No one knew why and the owners kept petting it, trying to get it to be quiet but to no avail. If you walk around the little path that skirts the lake you'll come across another little beach-type area.

From that area, if you look to the left you'll see:

And then looking back between those guys playing on the rocks and the grassy area is a portion of the river/pond/lake that wasn't being bothered by anyone:

In fact, it was so undisturbed, some ducks decided to make their entrance.

Looks inviting doesn't it?

This water is cold, doesn't matter if the sun was shining down on it or what. You can tell how much hiking I did because the trail dust is permanently attached to my left foot.

Looking to my right, back at the family having fun on the rocks:

Mirror Lake was the last stop on our day trip to Yosemite. We were tired, thirsty and sweaty from all the hiking and cramped tram riding. We went back to the Village Store and walked to the truck and took off. It felt good though, to see this place again, the homeland after so many months of absence. It didn't matter that I hiked up a storm through here; it was worth it and everyone had fun. What wasn't fun was getting back to Fresno with the high heat index waiting for us.
